Post-Surgery Concerns

If you have recently had your operation and are worried about pain, swelling, wound changes, or anything that doesn’t feel right, please contact the surgical ward or clinical team responsible for your care. They will be able to give you the most accurate advice based on your procedure.

If you are unable to reach them, or if you feel your symptoms require urgent attention, please contact your GP or seek urgent medical help.

Joint Precautions After Surgery

Following the recommended joint precautions after your operation is an important part of protecting your new joint and helping it last as long as possible. Simple measures, such as using supportive aids when advised, avoiding movements that place unnecessary strain on the joint, and following your rehabilitation exercises can make a big difference to long-term comfort and function. Your physiotherapy team will guide you through what to do and what to avoid, and sticking to their advice helps promote healing and improves the longevity of your joint replacement.
